About EMS

The SAMIC EMS Program began in 1976 under the watchful eye of 2004 Copley Springfield First Citizen Award winner Dr. John M. Holland. The first paramedics hit the streets of Springfield in April 1977.

Today, the SAMIC EMS System has 80 EMS agencies in 14 counties in Central Illinois, including five associate and participating hospitals. These agencies represent over 1,400 EMS personnel. Our EMT's are paid, volunteer, full-time, part-time, private, municipal and fire protection district-based providers. All are dedicated professionals in their communities.
