Minimum Admission Requirements

Applicants are considered eligible for admission into the program if they meet the minimum admission requirements for any one of the three categories. 

All GPA requirements are based on a 4.0 scale.

Category 1
High School Graduate

A. High school cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 or rank in upper 40 percent of graduating class. If you do not meet this requirement, see Category 3.
B. Satisfactory math skills.  Applicant must be able to score above MAT 082 on the placement test from LLCC.
C. Satisfactory oral and written communication skills.  Applicant must be able to score well enough on the placement test from LLCC to enter 100 level English course.
D. Adequate physical and emotional health to carry out required tasks of a respiratory therapist.
E. Completion of HLT 205 Human Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent with a minimum grade of “C” recommended.  (Completion of at least 1 year of high school biology or 1 semester of college biology within the past 5 years is a prerequisite for HLT 205.)

Category 2
GED Certificate Application

A. GED composite score of at least 225 (2250) with no individual score below 45 (450).  If you do not meet this requirement, see Category 3 below.
B. Satisfactory math skills.  Applicant must be able to score above MAT 082 on the placement test from LLCC.
C. Completion of one chemistry course recommended.
D. Satisfactory oral and written communication skills. Applicant must be able to score well enough on the placement test from LLCC to enter 100 level English course.
E. Adequate physical and emotional health to carry out required tasks of a respiratory therapist.
F. Completion of HLT 205 Human Anatomy and Physiology with a minimum grade of “C” recommended

Category 3
Applicants who do not qualify in Categories 1 & 2

A. Complete at least 9 credit hours of college in a single semester with a minimum GPA of 2.5 with no grade below a C.
B. Course numbers for the 9 credit hours must be at least 100 level.  Developmental or remedial courses will not be considered.
C. Completion of HLT 205 Human Anatomy and Physiology or equivalent with a minimum grade of  “C” recommended
