IMC/Neuro is a dynamic, fast paced medical-surgical intermediate care unit for young adults to geriatric patients. This unit receives a wide variety of medical, surgical, neurological and trauma patients. This unit has four nursing desks and 55 beds, all with the cardiac monitoring abilities. Nurses care for patients that have arterial lines, CVP lines, chest tubes, and occasional advanced neuro monitoring, stable ventilator support and drip titrations.
The South Hall is a specialty area for general neurological patients having surgical intervention such as craniotomy and spinal surgery, as well as medical patients with stroke, neuromuscular disorders, traumatic brain injury and seizures. The North Hall is designated to receive Level I and II trauma patients that required intermediate care. The surgical intermediate care area receives patients from a variety of sources: Pavilion Surgery, Cardiac Recovery, and General Surgery.
Patient population includes patients those that have undergone vascular, abdominal, neuro, head and neck or plastics surgery. The medical intermediate area receives patients with many different complex medical needs, neurological needs and pharmacological management. A multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to patients and families. This is an ideal unit welcoming nurses who want to start in critical care nursing and experience many facets of nursing with a wide variety of patients.
