How do I apply for a position?
|

Click the “Apply” button on any of our vacant position postings. Complete the on-line application and click submit. Your application is then sent directly to Human Resources. You may also visit the Human Resources Department at 8th & Mason Streets to apply in person. Testing is required for specific positions. Please refer to the comments section of the job postings. Tests are administered between the hours of 8:00am and 3:30pm, Monday through Friday excluding holidays.

What happens to my application after it has been submitted?
|

Applications are reviewed on a daily basis. If you are chosen for an interview, a recruiter will be contacting you. Applications are considered active for a period of 90 days. During this time, you may contact the Human Resources Department to have your application considered for additional positions of interest. After the initial 90 days, you must complete a new application in order to be considered for available positions.

Does St. John’s offer opportunities for advancement?
|
|
St. John’s Hospital has an established employee selection procedure for transfers and promotions. The hospital promotes or transfers from within whenever appropriate. Employees must have completed six months of employment with their current department before applying for a transfer.

Am I eligible for benefits?
|
|
Employees scheduled to work a minimum of 16 hours per pay period are eligible for paid days off. Employees scheduled to work a minimum of 32 hours per pay period on a continuing basis are eligible to participate in the Flexible Benefits Plan (insurance coverage). Insurance coverage becomes effective the first day of the pay period following completion of two full pay periods (approximately 4 – 5 weeks). Does St. John’s Hospital offer a retirement plan?

The Hospital Sisters Health System provides an employee pension plan, a “defined benefit” plan, for the employees of each of the system’s hospitals. Employee coverage in the pension plan is fully paid by the hospital. For details regarding the pension plan, click here.

How and when do I get paid?
|
|
A pay period begins with the first scheduled shift on Sunday and ends with the night shift 14 consecutive days later. Paydays are scheduled for every other Thursday. All employees are placed on direct deposit upon employment. An employee’s pay is deposited directly into a checking and or savings account designated by the employee. Employees receive a check advice in the mail showing information such as hours paid, net pay, deductions and benefit accruals and usage.

Does St. John’s Hospital pay for additional education?
|
|
The hospital encourages career growth by offering financial assistance to eligible employees for tuition costs. Course work must be reflective of the needs of the hospital, or toward a degree which is job related. Employees must be scheduled to work at least 32 hours per pay period and must do so for the entire academic term in which the course is scheduled to be eligible.
