Children admitted to St. John’s Children’s Hospital receive the finest medical treatment, emotional support, and loving care available anywhere. But children and families in the hospital have other special needs that are met through the generosity of individuals and organizations throughout Illinois.
Your gifts or toys, handmade items, decorations, time and more can go a long way towards brightening a hospital stay. This list provides suggestions for items you or your organization can donate both for our treasure chests and in our playrooms.
If you have questions about any of these suggestions or would like to know our greatest needs at this the time, please call our Pediatric Child Life Department at (217) 544-6464 ext. 30594.
Please call the Child Life Department before you come by to drop off any donations. Your name and address should be attached to the donation.
Please Remember:
- The patient population includes many infants and toddlers. Please avoid toys with small or sharp pieces, or toys that fall apart easily.
- Because of our infection control policy, stuffed/cloth toys must be new.
- Patients range in age from birth - teenagers.

Treasure Chest Wish List
Please help us keep our Treasure Chest full. The Treasure Chest is brought to the child's side after they have undergone any type of procedure or test. Its purpose is to increase compliance and reward our children for getting through the often painful and invasive procedures. We keep our treasure chest full of smaller toys for patients ages 2-18, both male and female toys. Some appropriate toys may be:
