Dr. Daniel Batton, NICU Medical Director
Dr. Batton is a professor of pediatrics at SIU School of Medicine and chief of SIU’s neonatology division. He also is co-director of the South-Central Illinois Perinatal Center and director of newborn services at St. John’s Children’s Hospital. He joined the SIU faculty in 2008. Most recently, he was a professor of pediatrics at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit (2002-08) and director of newborn medicine at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. (1987-2008). Previously, Dr. Batton was on the faculties at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He completed a three-year fellowship training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine (1983) and his pediatric residency at the Loma Linda University Medicine Center (1980). He earned his medical degree at the University of Illinois in Chicago (1977). Dr. Batton is board certified in pediatrics and in the subspecialty of neonatal-perinatal medicine. |

Dr. Beau Batton
Dr. Batton is an assistant professor of pediatrics at SIU School of Medicine, specializing in neonatology. He joined the SIU faculty in 2008. Dr. Batton has completed a three-year fellowship in neonatology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland (2008) and a pediatric residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich. (2005). He earned his medical degree at Loyola University-Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago (2002). He is board certified in pediatrics.

Dr. Magali Jean-Louis
Dr. Jean-Louis is an assistant professor at SIU School of Medicine. She joined the SIU faculty in 2006, after serving on the staffs of the Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She completed neonatology fellowship training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (2003). Dr. Jean-Louis completed her pediatric residency at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (2000) and received her medical degree from Faculté de Médecine et de Pharmacie de L’Université d’Etat d’Haïti (1992). Dr. Jean-Louis’ special practice interest is neonatology. She is board certified in pediatrics and in the subspecialty of neonatal-perinatal medicine. |

Dr. Levent Kahraman
Dr. Kahraman is an assistant professor of neonatology at SIU School of Medicine. He joined the SIU faculty in 2007, specializing in neonatology. Most recently, he was an instructor in pediatrics/newborn medicine at Washington University School of Medicine (WU) and previously was a staff neonatologist and head of newborn services at hospitals in Turkey. Dr. Kahraman completed a four-year fellowship in newborn medicine at Temple University and WU/St. Louis Children’s Hospital (2001) and his pediatric residency at Children’s Medical Center of Brooklyn (1997). He earned his medical degree from Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey (1992). Dr. Kahraman is board certified in pediatrics and in the subspecialty of neonatal-perinatal medicine. |

Dr. Narinder N. Khanna
Dr. Khanna is a professor of pediatrics at SIU School of Medicine. He joined SIU’s full-time faculty in 2003, after 23 years on its volunteer faculty. He previously was director of newborn services and a neonatologist at St. John’s Hospital. Dr. Khanna completed a neonatology fellowship at Montreal Children’s Hospital (1970) and a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh (1968). He earned his medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (1963). Dr. Khanna’s special practice interests are evaluation and treatment of premature and seriously ill newborns. He is board certified in pediatrics and in the subspecialty of neonatal-perinatal medicine. |

Dr. Dharmendra J. Nimavat
Dr. Nimavat is an assistant professor of pediatrics at SIU School of Medicine. He came to SIU in 2005 from Stony Brook University Hospital, where he completed a three-year fellowship in neonatal and perinatal medicine (2005). Dr. Nimavat completed his pediatric residency at Brookdale University Medical Center in Brooklyn (2002). He completed postgraduate training in pediatrics at B. J. Medical College (BJMC) and earned his medical degree from BJMC Gujarat University (1996, 1992). Dr. Nimavat’s special practice interest is neonatology. He is board certified in pediatrics. |
