Diana T. Widicus, M.D.
Chief Physician Advisor



Dr. Widicus is board certified in Family Medicine. She attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Missouri- Columbia. Dr. Widicus’ practice is affiliated with Springfield Priority Care. Her special practice interest is women’s health.

     
 
 
 

Jane R. Arbuthnot, M.D.


Dr. Arbuthnot is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology. She attended medical school and completed her residency at Southern Illinois School of Medicine. Dr. Arbuthnot’s practice is affiliated with Women’s Healthcare, Ltd. She is a Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at SIU School of Medicine. Her special practice interests include gynecology and women’s health, including HPV vaccine for adolescents.

 
 
 
 
 

Cheryl L. Brown, M.D.


Dr. Brown is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology. She attended medical school and completed her residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Her practice is associated with the Springfield Clinic. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at SIU School of Medicine. Her practice interests include all areas of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

 
 
 
 
 

Diane C. Hillard-Sembell, M.D.


Dr. Hillard-Sembell is board certified in Orthopedics. She attended medical school and completed her residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Hillard-Sembell completed a fellowship in knee and sports medicine surgery at the University of California - San Diego. Her practice is affiliated with the Springfield Clinic. She is medical director of AthletiCare, St. John’s sports medicine program. Dr. Hillard-Sembell is a Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at SIU School of Medicine. Her research interests include knee injury prevention in female athletes, and her practice specialty is knee surgery.

 
 
 
 
 

Erica E. Nelson, M.D.


Dr. Nelson is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology. She attended medical school at the University of Vermont and completed her Residency at Oregon Health and Science University. Her practice is associated with SIU Physician and Surgeons. She is an Associate Professor, Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Her research interest is medical education, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her special practice interests are minimally invasive surgery and pelvic floor disorders.

 
 
 
 
 

Holly Novak, M.D.


Dr. Novak is board certified in Internal Medicine, with advanced training in Cardiovascular Disease. She attended medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Novak completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Her practice is associated with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Internal Medicine at SIU School of Medicine. Her research interests are new cholesterol medications and new prevention treatments for heart disease. Her special practice interests include women and heart disease.
 
 
 
 
 

Elizabeth A. Peralta, M.D.


Dr. Peralta is board certified in General Surgery, with advanced training in Surgical Oncology. She attended medical school at the University of California - Irvine. Dr. Peralta completed her General Surgery residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center and her Surgical Oncology fellowship at City of Hope National Medical Center. Her practice is associated with SIU Physicians and Surgeons. She is an Assistant Professor, Division of Surgery at SIU School of Medicine. Her research interest is breast cancer prevention. Her special practice interests are breast cancer, melanoma and liver cancer.

 
 
 
 
 

Jan Rakinic, M.D.


Dr. Rakinic is board certified in both General Surgery and Colon/Rectal Surgery. She attended medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine and served her internship and residency at the University of Illinois/Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Rakinic completed a fellowship in Colon/Rectal Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Her practice is associated with SIU Physicians and Surgeons. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at SIU School of Medicine. Her research interests are diverticular disease of the colon, the genetics of colorectal cancer, prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer. Her special practice interests are colorectal cancer treatment, complex colonoscopy and perianal fistula disease .
 
 
 
 
 

Angelique S. Rettig, M.D.


Dr. Rettig is board certified in Obstetrics/Gynecology. She attended medical school at the University of Kentucky and completed her residency at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Her practice is associated with Springfield Obstetrics and Gynecologic Associates. Dr. Rettig is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at SIU School of Medicine. Her special practice interests include all aspects of Obstetric and Gynecologic medical care.

 
 
 
 
 

Sherry Simmons, M.D.


Dr. Simmons is board certified in Family Practice. She attended medical school at St. George’s University, Grenada, and did her clinical work at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Canterbury, England. Dr.  Simmons completed a surgical internship at Creighton University, Omaha, NE and her residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. Simmons is the owner and operator of Body Perfect, LLC, a medical spa specializing in aesthetic medicine and laser technology. Dr. Simmons’ research interests include all aspects of new and developing laser therapies and aesthetic procedures.
 
 
 
 
 

M. Jill Sullivan, M.D.


Dr. Sullivan is board certified in Diagnostic Radiology. She attended medical school at the University of Cincinnati and completed her Residency at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine. Her practice is associated with Springfield Radiologists, SC. She is a Professor, Department of Diagnostic Radiology at SIU School of Medicine. Her special practice interest is women’s imaging.
