CWLP employees play Santa to patients at St. John’s Children’s Hospital

SPRINGFIELD –Employees from City Water, Light and Power’s (CWLP) Customer Service
Office raised more than $2,000 to buy DVD players, DVD’s, toys and games for St.
John’s Children’s Hospital. The generous donation means that every pediatric patient
room will have a new DVD player.

“We want to thank all the CWLP employees for this generous donation. Their
support underscores the important role that the community plays in helping us
care for sick and injured children. These gifts will go a long way to making kids
feel more at home during their stay here,” said Peggy Curtin, Executive Director,
St. John’s Children’s Hospital.

In September, CWLP Customer Service Office employees designated St. John’s
Children’s Hospital as the recipient of its “Wee Treasures” campaign. Through bingo
games, a chili cook-off, individual donations and the support of the Northender’s
VFW Post 10302, Ladies Auxiliary and Circuit City, the campaign was able to
purchase 40 DVD players, 18 games, 18 DVDs and 35 toys that will be enjoyed by
pediatric patients.

“It’s been very rewarding for our office to be able to meet the needs of the children
and families served at St. John’s Children’s Hospital,” said CWLP Customer
Service Office Manager, Ramona Yuskanich. “It was our hope to not only make the
holidays brighter for current patients but to also provide something lasting that goes
beyond this season with the donation of DVD players for the rooms.”

St. John's Children’s Hospital combines the faculty resources of SIU School of
Medicine with the pediatric facilities and services of St. John’s Hospital. It was
recognized for membership in October 2005 by the National Association for
Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI). The Children’s
Hospital Web site is www.sjchildrens.org.
