David Olejniczak named Chief Operating Officer at St. John's Hospital

SPRINGFIELD, IL – St. John’s Hospital recently welcomed David Olejniczak, FACHE, as chief operating officer (COO). Olejniczak will lead various departments and services at St. John’s including: Human Resources, Women and Children Services, Ancillary Services, Mission/Support Services, Nursing Services, Emergency Services, Surgical Services, Central Laundry Services and Engineering & Construction. He will oversee all construction projects, and work with the Medical Staff to ensure the hospital’s operations support physicians’ needs.

“Dave will play a significant role in helping us achieve our operating objectives in support of our Mission as we continue on our Journey to transform St. John’s,” said Bob Ritz, president and CEO of St. John’s Hospital. Olejniczak has a long history of serving in the healthcare field, with a track record of successful accomplishments since 1983. From 1997-2004, Olejniczak was Senior Vice President of Hospitals and Clinics with Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. He most recently served as the executive vice president and COO of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in Waterloo, Iowa.

I look forward to working with my new colleagues to enhance the healing ministry of the Hospital Sisters and create a truly exceptional health care environment,” said Olejniczak.

Olejniczak received a Master’s of Business Administration and Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toledo. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Olejniczak is married to Carol and they have two children – Elizabeth, age 14 and Nathan, age 12.
