St. John’s staff and local radio personalities to play in charity softball game
Warm up game for Strike Out Stroke night with Springfield Sliders
SPRINGFIELD –Staff from St. John’s Hospital will take the field and face local radio personalities from Capitol Radio Group in a friendly softball game at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 1 at Robin Roberts Stadium. The softball game is free to attend, but a $1 donation is encouraged as part of that evening’s “Strike Out Stroke” event with the Springfield Sliders. Fans who attend the softball game can stay and watch the 6:35 p.m. game for free.
The “Strike Out Stroke” game will raise money to support an October retreat for stroke survivors. For each ticket purchased at the gate, $1.00 will be donated to St. John’s Hospital Stroke Center. The Garrison Group will also donate $50 to the Stroke Center for every strikeout during the game. All proceeds will benefit the 2nd annual St. John’s Hospital Stroke Retreat being held at the Chiara Center in Springfield, IL, October 23 – 25.
The first 750 fans attending the August 1st game will receive a free Sliders poster featuring Manager and former St. Louis Cardinal Jack Clark. An expanded handicapped accessible section will be available for those unable to sit in the bleacher seats. After the game, kids will be allowed to run the bases against Children’s Hospital mascot CJ & Joey.
