St. John’s Hospital opens renovated Main Lobby

Patients who previously used Mason Street entrance should now use Main Entrance

SPRINGFIELD – St. John’s Hospital will open its renovated Main Lobby at 5 a.m. on Thursday, October 1.  Patient Access (admitting), Jazzman’s Café and the hospital’s main gift shop are located in the new lobby, which is on north side of the hospital campus and accessible from either Carpenter or 9th Street.  Patients and visitors should follow the exterior signs marked “Main Entrance” posted throughout the campus.

All patients and visitors who previously used the Mason Street Admitting/Outpatient entrance will now use the Main Lobby. As of October 1, the Mason Street entrance will close and all patients who are being admitted will go through the Main Entrance.

The opening of our renovated Main Lobby is another step in the transformation of St. John’s Hospital,” said Bob Ritz, president and CEO. “Patients and visitors will find the atmosphere welcoming and convenient.”

The new lobby features modern décor, spacious lighting, a wall fountain, ample seating, and individual areas to ensure privacy during the admitting process.

The Main Lobby hours are Monday-Friday from 5 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. Patients and visitors who need to access the hospital outside of these hours should enter through the Emergency Department, located one level directly below the Main Entrance.

With the move of Patient Access (admitting) to the Main Lobby, patients and visitors should park in the 9th Street ramp or on the surface lot at the corner of 7th and Carpenter Street. Patients and visitors to Prairie Heart Institute and the Pavilion should continue to park in the Mason Street ramp. 

Patient-Assisted Parking (valet) is available at the Main Entrance, Pavilion and Prairie Heart Institute.   Patients who need information should call St. John’s pre-admission services at 217-544-6464, ext. 44732. Visitors who have questions can contact 217-544-6464.
