SPRINGFIELD SLIDERS TEAMS UP WITH ST. JOHN’S HOSPITAL
TO KEEP KIDS “SAFE AT HOME”

SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Sliders have recruited St. John’s Hospital to their roster this season to help drive home the importance of staying safe during the summer.   The new “Safe at Home” program will offer fans thousand of free giveaways designed to improve safety in and around the home during select home games throughout the season.  St. John’s staff, along with the Springfield Fire Department, will also offer safety demonstrations and information during “Safe at Home” games.

“During the past two summers, the Springfield Sliders have brought great family entertainment back to Robin Roberts Stadium at Lanphier Park,” said Jesse Bolder, owner, Springfield Sliders.  “We’re looking forward to another season of fun-filled evenings while engaging our fans with incentives and information to help keep families safe.”

The “Safe at Home” program will provide fans with such items as free bike helmets, smoke detectors, oven mitts and safety lights during four promotional evenings in June and July.

  • June 12 – The first 500 children will receive a free fitted bike helmet courtesy of Kohl’s Department Stores.  The game is also a reading club night for kids.
  • July 2 – The first 500 families will receive a free smoke detector.  The Springfield Fire Department will be on hand, offering tours of their fire engines and providing information on fireworks safety.
  • July 11 – The first 500 children will get a free safety light.
  • July 24 – Strike out Stroke Night.  The first 500 adults will get a free oven mitt printed with the warning signs of a stroke.  $1 dollar from every ticket sold will go to support St. John’s Stroke Camp for stroke survivors.
