Springfield, IL – St. John’s Third Age Living (TAL) is an innovative program committed to helping older persons age well and remain independent, healthy and productive. Formerly housed in the St. John’s North building, TAL provides services that educate, assist and support older people in the area.
On Wednesday, September 14, TAL will move to a space at White Oaks Mall (upper level, Bergner’s wing) to better serve the community. A grand opening reception will be held at 2 p.m. that day. The public and media are invited to attend.
“This move helps Third Age Living be more accessible and visible,” said Kay Meneghetti, Caregiver Specialist at St. John’s. “Our goal is to make it as convenient as possible for the seniors who come to us for classes and other assistance.”
Services provided by TAL include: Family Caregiver Resource Center, Caregiver Interfaith Volunteer Services, Health Education Workshops, AARP Driver Safety Program, Computer Learning classes and workshops, Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP), and Philips Lifeline Information.
“There is not a day goes by that I don’t hear from one or more of our carereceivers how thankful they are for the help they receive. Many have said that they wouldn’t be able to remain in their own homes if it weren’t for us,” said Kay Alberts, Program Facilitator for Caregiver Interfaith Volunteer Services (CIVS).
To learn more about how TAL services could benefit you or a loved one, call 217-757-6620 or e-mail kim.luz@st-johns.org.
