Concerns about Quality of Care and/or Patient Safety

Individuals with concerns about patient care and/or safety related to services provided by St. John’s Hospital are encouraged to contact the manager of the involved hospital service or St. John’s Patient Advocate Hotline at (217) 544-6464, extension 77500. To contact St. John’s Hospital Administration directly, call (217) 544-6464, extension 44572 or send your concerns to 800 East Carpenter, Springfield, IL, 62769.

If your concerns cannot be resolved by hospital representatives, there are other ways to voice your concerns:

  • The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) is an independent, not-for-profit, national body that oversees the quality and safety of health care and other services provided in accredited organizations. Information about accredited organizations may be provided by calling (800) 994-6610 or via their web site at www.jcaho.org.
  • The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has a 24-hour toll-free complaint registry at (800) 252-4343. The TTY (hearing impaired use only) number is (800) 547-0466.
