Programs
The purpose of The Parent Help Line at St. John’s Children’s Hospital is to:
- · Provide support, parenting tips and referrals that strengthen families, and
- · Reduce stress and prevent child abuse and neglect.
Phone Support Line
Parents, caregivers and professionals call our phone line 365 days a year. Our trained phone volunteers listen, support, and share parenting tips and referral numbers. We also call moms of newborns to offer support and answer questions.
In-Hospital Programs
Our parent advocates assist Birth Center, Pediatric and NICU parents. Visitors access parenting materials in the ER, NICU Developmental Follow-up Clinic, hospital classes, outpatient waiting rooms, labs, lobbies and lounges.
Parents as Mentors Program
Staff and volunteers provide monthly meetings and phone support and referral to Harvard Park Elementary School families. The goal is to increase parenting skills needed to decrease truancy, suspension and expulsion and improve grades and behavior.
