Casey Younkin, MD Casey Younkin, MD is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology with interests in general gynecology, advanced laparoscopic surgery, including robotic surgery and postmenopausal bone health. He is a teacher of students and residents at the SIU School of Medicine. Dr. Younkin has been the chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at St. John’s Hospital since 1994. He currently serves on the Medical Executive Committee of St. John’s Hospital. Dr. Younkin received training in robotic surgery at the University of Michigan in 2006 by Dr. Arnold Advincula, MD. He has been performing robotic hysterectomies, myomectomies and assisting in sacral colpopexy since that time. Dr. Younkin received his bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and obtained his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He has practiced in Springfield, Illinois since 1988. Dr. Younkin is a Fellow of the America College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is board certified by the American Board of Gynecology. He is a member of several medical societies both locally and nationally. He has presented a number of talks on issues in female health, laparoscopic surgery, post-menopausal bone health and vaccination of women. |
