Bev Neisler
Chief Development Officer
Bev joined St. John’s Hospital in March of 2013. She has held leadership roles in non-profit fundraising for 25 years. Her primary practice has been in the areas of health care and education. Bev’s strong ties to the Springfield community and to the central illinois region serve as key components to building a dynamic and comprehensive philanthropy program. Bev received her master’s degree in interpersonal and non-verbal communications from the University of Illinois at Springfield. She also holds the designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive, which is recognized as the global standard for the fundraising profession.

Paul Scherschel
Senior Gifts Officer

Paul Scherschel serves as the Senior Gift Officer for the Prairie Heart Foundation. The Prairie Heart Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Paul brings nearly twelve years of professional experience to his role for Prairie and the HSHS St. John’s Foundation, and in these prior roles has raised significant contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Prior to joining the Foundation staff, he successfully oversaw grant development and scholarship stewardship for Millikin University. While at Millikin, he also assisted in governmental relations.
 
Paul is a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Advisory Board, and the Sangamon Valley Estate Planning Council. In addition, he serves the local community on the boards of Ball-Chatham Educational Foundation as the secretary and the recruitment chair for Leadership Springfield. Paul is honored to work with Prairie's nationally recognized physicians and care providers for the life-saving heart and vascular care they provide, as well as our partners who help provide a legacy of cardiac innovation and leadership. Paul also looks forward to meeting our numerous friends and supporters across central and southern Illinois in the months ahead.


Brandy Grove
Major Gifts Officer

Brandy joined the team in January 2014 and is the Major Gift Officer. She is responsible for building relationships with donors who have an affinity to HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Brandy’s area of focus for philanthropy is determined by the ministry’s ever-changing needs to best serve our patients and their families.  

Brandy earned a B.A. in communications from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Previously, she was the Marketing & Promotions Director for the Capitol Radio Group and the Executive Director of the generation Healthy Coalition. 


Allyson Strauch
Annual Gifts Officer
As the Annual Gifts Officer Allyson manages the annual fundraising campaigns, employee giving campaign, guardian angel program, BIG Raffle and is a coordinator for Toast of the Town. Previously, Allyson was the Student Development Officer for St. John’s College of Nursing where she was responsible for student fundraising, alumni relations and student organizations.
 
Allyson earned her master’s degree in education from Benedictine University and her bachelor’s degree in communications/TV broadcasting from Western Illinois University. 

Dave Newton
Program Coordinator
Dave Newton joined the team in October 2012. As Program Coordinator for St. John’s Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), Dave is focused on increasing funds and awareness for CMN and St. John’s Children’s Hospital. Dave had a successful 23-year career in radio before joining the Foundation team. He was also been associated with the “Care for Kids” Radiothon since its inception.

Dave graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a B.A. in communications and a minor in journalism.

Alex Kararo
Data Analyst II/Prospect Research Coordinator
Alex joined the team in August of 2014. As a Data Analyst II, he prepares reports and statistics and ensures accuracy of data information. As the prospect researcher, Alex works closely with our gift officers to develop prospective donor pools for cultivation and solicitation purposes. Alex received his bachelor’s degree in finance from Illinois State University and his master’s in business administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Katie Impson
Donor Stewardship Facilitator
Katie joined the Foundation in April of 2014. A graduate of Western Illinois University, Katie is responsible for the processing and acknowledging of gifts, maintaining accurate donor records and assisting with special projects and events.

Jordan Oshesky
Fund Development Facilitator
Jordan joined the Foundation in June of 2016 as a Fund Development Facilitator. Jordan is responsible for processing and acknowledging gifts, maintaining accurate donor records and assisting with special projects and events. Jordan earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Gayla Wingo
Donor Stewardship Facilitator
As donor stewardship facilitator, Gayla receives contributions made to the hospital. She is responsible for recording the gifts to the fund requested by the donor, writing acknowledgement letters and disbursing the donated funds to different areas of the hospital. Gayla says that in her time at St. John's Hospital, she has learned just how very important gifts are, especially to the patients and families. 

Angie McIlroy
Donor Stewardship Facilitator
Angie joined the Foundation in 2012, bringing 15 years of specialty customer service experience. Angie is responsible for the processing and acknowledging gifts, maintaining accurate donor records and assisting with special projects and events. Angie also has many years of experience with Children's Miracle Network, helping to raise funds and awareness for St. John's Children's Hospital as a Miracle Family volunteer and spokesperson
