Every dollar matters as our community works together to help others during this pandemic. See below for a description of what donating one of the dollar amounts below can do to help your neighbors in need.
$5: Distraction activity for children
The pediatrics unit at HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital averages 20 patients a day. Currently, the playroom, healing garden, all therapies and activities, special visitors and the Joey's Classroom tutoring center are on pause to keep kids and families safe. New items such as Lego sets, toys, games, books, stuffed animals or coloring books and crayons would brighten the day for these children.
$10: 30-day supply of prescription medication
Help bridge the gap for someone who needs a prescription they cannot afford. In partnership with the HSHS St. John’s Community Pharmacy and St. John’s Case Management Department, St. John’s Foundation has launched MissionRx to provide medication assistance. Patients in need can receive a one time 30-day supply of a medication for free.
$25: Care package for Home Health patients
Many of our Home Health patients have weak or compromised immune systems and are considered at a higher risk to contract COVID-19. Our Home Health staff can deliver much needed care items to these patients to keep them safe and healthy. These items will include toilet paper, hand sanitizer, bleach wipes, facial tissue, snacks, lotion, soap, toothpaste and activity books.
$50: Support the Christian Care program
Our Christian Care program provides financial assistance to individuals who have medical bills they are unable to pay due to a variety of reasons, such as losing their job or in between health coverage.
$75: Overnight hotel stay for a NICU family
More than half of our families with babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) live 60 miles or more away from Springfield. Many of these families have limited resources available to help provide food, transportation and accommodations. Donations will allow us to provide hotel accommodations, gas cards or grocery store gift cards to families in need.
$100: Virtual therapy visits for kids
There are typically a variety of visitors and activities available for children in the pediatrics unit. They include visits from mini-horses, therapy dogs, music therapists, guest readers, special character visits and more. Presently, all of those activities are on pause. Through the use of our GetWell Network, you can bring visitors and activities directly to each child through their television screen!

Gifts to the COVID-19 General Fund will help patients and their families, as well as our frontline caregivers.
