With flu season hitting a peak in central Illinois, visitors at HSHS St. John’s Hospital are reminded of the important role everyone plays in guarding patient safety. 

HSHS St. John’s Hospital recently provided St. John’s College of Nursing (CON) faculty and staff “Stop the Bleed” training. This course is designed to provide first aid to trauma victims and stop a fatal bleed at the scene before emergency medical providers arrive. 

Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. John’s Hospital is the first cardiac center in the United States to implement SeamlessMD’s patient engagement and quality improvement technology to improve the patient experience and health outcomes. 

HSHS St. John’s Hospital is the first hospital in Sangamon County to offer Stryker’s Mako Robotic-Arm assisted total knee replacement procedures. This latest advancement in joint replacement surgery is transforming the way joint replacement procedures are performed.

Slumberland and Parent Help Line at HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital are looking for families in need of bed donations. On Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, Slumberland is donating 30 twin bed mattresses, box springs and bed frames to families in need.

Certified application counselors will be available by appointment only at HSHS St. John’s Hospital to help individuals and families sign up for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act. Individuals and families have until December 15, 2017 to enroll.
