HSHS St. John’s Hospital Unveils New Transport Ambulance for Infants, Children and Mothers

In partnership with American Ambulance Service Inc., HSHS St. John’s Hospital has unveiled its new children’s hospital ambulance for specially trained neonatal intensive care (NICU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and maternal transport teams.
The ambulance includes the latest medical technology that will serve as a mobile intensive care unit for infants, children and mothers.
“This dedicated ambulance helps us continue to serve our patients and family within the central and southern Illinois regions,” said Vernessa Glover, executive director of HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services. “It is extremely important that we are able to transport young patients to our NICU or PICU as well as their mothers who may be in need of the expert care we provide here at St. John’s.”
The ambulance is brightly decorated with HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital mascots and kangaroo duo, CJ and Joey, and their friends Felix and Felicia Fox, Milo the monkey and Goldie the dog. The interior will also be designed with fun graphics in an effort to make the transport ambulance more kid-friendly.
Area hospitals and physicians can request the ambulance to transport infants, children and mothers to St. John’s by calling a dedicated hotline, 1-877-ALL-4KIDS, which is answered 24 hours a day.
