This Memorial Day weekend, HSHS St. John’s Hospital is asking you to play it safe on all fronts, but especially if you’re taking bicycles out for a ride.

The number of babies born before reaching the hospital has been on the rise locally. To help provide local firefighters, police officers and emergency services personnel with the skills needed for these out-of-hospital births, HSHS St. John’s Hospital is conducting free, two-hour training sessions on May 23 – 25 between 8 a.m. and 4 Springfield Fire Department, Station E, located at 2730 Old Rochester Rd.

Dr. Frank Aguirre, MD, has been elected governor of the Illinois division of the American College of Cardiology. (ACC). He currently serves as the co-director of the Prairie Chest Pain Network and is a physician at the Prairie Heart Institute at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.

Tele-stroke provides access to neurology specialists who may be more than 100 miles away. 

Tonight 43 students are receiving their Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. John’s College of Nursing in a dual Mass and commencement ceremony at 5 p.m. 

C.J. and Joey, a pair of kangaroos, are the winners of the 2017 HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital Mascot Election. This duo defeated Felix the fox who ran for mascot alongside his daughter, Felicia. C.J. and Joey are the incumbents; they’ve stood united as the HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital mascot since 2006.
