Each year, 1.2 million Americans will suffer a cardiac emergency. About one third of these patients will die before they reach the hospital for one critical reason: A delay in receiving crucial medical treatment. 

Vernessa Glover, executive director of HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital, will speak to Springfield High School’s Pre-Health Club about her area of expertise in the health care field and what steps it took her to achieve her role at a children’s hospital.

 

HSHS St. John’s Hospital is now accepting more health insurance plans in the new year. St. John’s Hospital recently added Current Health Solution and UHC Medicare to the list of insurance plans it accepts. In the coming months, St. John’s will also be adding new Medicaid managed care plans in an effort to continue improving and building on the plans they offer.

HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital announced eight-year-old Lexi Sonneborn as its 2018 Children’s Miracle Network local champion child on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at an ice cream sundae party in her honor. 

​HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Memorial Medical Center and  the Sangamon County Department of Public Health are once again collaborating on a project to assess the health needs of the residents of Sangamon County.

To help people kick-start their new year’s resolutions, the first GO! 217 workout will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 inside Erin’s Pavilion at Southwind Park.
