Summer Internship
  • Summer Internship(s)

AthletiCare offers a summer internship for college students who are applying to PT, OT, SLP or ATC post graduate level programs. The program is available to current college students only (sophomore, juniors or seniors) and is a non-paid work experience. During this 10-12 week internship, each student will have the opportunity to shadow therapists from a variety of disciplines and settings in hopes of providing a well-rounded experience for any intern.

Typical rotations include outpatient, inpatient, pediatrics, aquatics, sports enhancement, sports medicine event coverage, orthopedic physician clinic coverage, and surgical observation. The intent of each rotation is to provide an overview of the diversity found in each discipline and at every clinical setting that these disciplines can be found. It also provides the opportunity to see how the different disciplines work together in the Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation team.

If you have any questions, please email Brittany Laurent.

    Kate-Schlouch-intern Meet our 2014 intern

My name is Kate Schlouch and I graduated from Springfield High School in 2012. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Kentucky studying kinesiology and hoping to continue on to physical therapy school after I finish my undergrad.

I am interested in physical therapy because I love helping people and have always been interested in sports medicine. I think being a physical therapist is the perfect career for me. I am very excited to have the opportunity to intern with St. John's AthletiCare and I can't wait to see and learn more about the many different fields in health care!
